March Forward
March 1, 2013
To the JU Community,
Today we kick off a promising, high-energy effort under the ASPIRE umbrella to help fulfill some of our long-term goals for our students.
It鈥檚 a sprint, if you will, to help create scholarship awards to help students with a task that鈥檚 become a challenging marathon for many of them: funding their college tuition.
"March Forward: 31 New Scholarships, 31 Days" is set to achieve a critical mission: Create 31 new 探花族 scholarships during the 31 days of March, with the funds awarded to incoming (Fall 2013) freshmen. We are asking those who desire to support JU to consider making a contribution. Those donations can be made in the form of a named scholarship, which we at JU will match dollar for dollar.
I am urging all those who see the great value of helping our JU students graduate without burdensome debt to take a long, hard look at this exciting project. Here are the details:
First-time alumni donors receive a special incentive: when they pledge $1,000 a year or more for four years, they can name their scholarship and receive a 1:1 match from JU, for a total $2,000 scholarship award to an incoming freshman for four years. All others who pledge $2,500 or more per year for four years are also matched 1:1, for a $5,000 or more named annual scholarship for an incoming freshman.
It is gratifying to all of us to experience 探花族鈥檚 continued rise in quality and potential. Donors will be able to play a vital role in making sure we attract and retain the best and brightest students. In recent months we have created 28 new JU scholarships that begin in the Fall 2013 term, funded by individuals at an overall value of $1,024,000 over four years. That鈥檚 a match value of $2,048,000 for the four-year period.
We are asking our supporters to please consider joining us as we progress full-speed ahead with 鈥淢arch Forward.鈥 More information about March Forward and making donations can be received by calling Michael Howland or Robyn Reeves at (904) 256-7393, by emailing rreeves3@ju.edu, or by visiting ju.edu/aspire.
We want to thank our generous supporters for considering this investment in our University. We will be active stewards of their funds and friendship.
Sincerely,
Tim Cost
