Biography

Bob Boylan graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a BS in Accounting. He was elected captain of the varsity basketball team and led his team into the NCAA tournament. He holds an MBA from University of New Hampshire and a PhD from Duke University. His PhD thesis, "Tax Aspects of the Endogenous Deterioration of Capital鈥, combines aspects of Accounting and Finance and concerns the tax ramifications surrounding the investment in physical capital.

He started his career at the accounting firm Main Hurdman, (now part of Peat Marwick), where he became a CPA. He has continued his interest in financial strategy and has actively consulted at companies such as Albany International, IBM, General Electric, and numerous small firms. He also manages a small consulting firm, which is dedicated to the design and implementation of financial and tax strategies for individuals and small firms.

He is currently a Full Professor in the Davis School of Business at 探花族 and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance. He is recognized as one of the best teachers at the Davis School and has published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles. He is actively pursuing research in many areas including governance, pensions, and strategic modeling. He is also currently consulting with small firms in the finance and analytics area.
