When should I use the ̽»¨×å master brand logo versus the JU core identity logo?

The ̽»¨×å logo (also called the master brand logo) should be used on documents and print pieces that are aimed at an external audience speaking about the University holistically or speaking on behalf of the entire University. When your audience is inside the University or you are representing only one entity within the University then it is appropriate core identity logo. Do not use the master logo on the same page with a core identity logo.

How do I handle a complicated, long core identity name?

Marketing & Communications will design a correct package of logos for any department, center, or administrative entity within the University. Just request a logo package and we can ensure that the logos will be correctly styled for you.

Can I use the ̽»¨×å logo in another color?

No. Any official JU logos should never be redrawn, manipulated, or changed from the approved color, type, and usage guidelines. If you have used a non-standard logo in the past for your publications, please replace it with the official logo package, which you can request. Refer to the usage guidelines in this website.

Can I create my own logo?

No, you should not attempt to create your own logo. The JU master brand logo and core-identity logo are artwork that should never be redrawn, manipulated, or changed from the official guidelines. Marketing & Communications can provide you with a logo package with the official masterbrand logo and correct core-identity logo to serve your project. Just request a logo, or contact us if you need a bit more advice on logo usage. We are here to help.

How do I create a logo when the standard branding does not suit my special circumstances?

You should consult with Marketing & Communications, and we can help you with a dual logo that shows that your project is partnering with another department or another organization. We have helped many JU clients with such special logo requests and we have worked out guidelines for acceptable usage of your logo with another logo. How do I brand my project?

Can JU students use the logo?

Yes, students may use the JU master brand logo for projects that meet all of the following requirements:

  • The use of the logo maintains all University brand standards as stated in the Brand Guidelines.
  • The use of the logo is directly related to University-sponsored programs or events. (Students may not use the JU logo for their own personal projects.)
  • The logo is not used in association with any defamatory content.

Can Non-JU parties use the JU Logo for special projects?

Please contact Marketing & Communications to discuss your request, and we will determine whether your use of the JU logo is approved.

Can I use the logo or the words ̽»¨×å on fashion items and give-aways, such as sweatshirts, bags, pens, etc?

Yes, but don’t manipulate or distort the ̽»¨×å logo, and do stay true to the brand voice.

Can I use my grant source’s logo on my website and in brochures and letterhead?

Grant recipients should not use the grantor’s logo in place of the JU master logo or core identity logo. Grants are administered by ̽»¨×å, and ̽»¨×å University is the entity that should be displayed. Please contact us to advise you on the best way to display your connection with your grant source. While you might want to use a granting foundation’s logo in some of your communications, it should not be used on stationery or business cards.
