Biography

Dr. Daphne Wang is the Walker/Wells Fargo Endowed Chair of Finance and Associate Professor of Finance at the Davis College of Business and Technology, ̽»¨×å. She earned a BA in Sociology from National Taiwan University, an MBA and Ph. D from the University of Texas, and completed executive education at Harvard University and the University of Hawaii. Dr. Wang holds the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) credential.
Dr. Daphne Wang has received several notable awards and scholarships throughout her academic career, recognizing her excellence in research, teaching, and professional contributions. In March 2023, she was honored with the JU Faculty Excellence Award in Scholarship/Research. She was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honors Society, in 2019, and into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in 2018. In 2017, she was named JU DCOB Faculty VIP of the Year. During her service as faculty advisor (2015-2018) for the JU Dolphin Student Investment Fund (DSIF), members of the DSIF team have competed in the CFA Research Challenge and have gained state, national, and international acclaim.
 
Her research interests span a wide range, including corporate governance, financial crises, mergers & acquisitions, insider trades, and defined benefit pension plans. Her articles appeared in a variety of journals including the Journal of Empirical Finance, Applied Economics, Finance Research Letters, Emerging Markets Review, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Financial Education, etc. In addition, Dr. Wang has presented papers at numerous well-known discipline-specific conferences including the American Accounting Association (AAA National) and Financial Management Association (FMA National). It is worth noting that some of Dr. Wang’s research has received media attention, particularly a study on corporate scandals and their long-term impact on businesses, indicating the relevance and impact of her work beyond academics.

  • Dr. Daphne Wang was also invited to review articles for the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, an A*-rated journal based on the ABDC Index, followed up with an invitation to its annual Capital Market Conference during May 19-21, 2021.
